Does FFF Take Owner Surrenders?

We get asked all the time to take felines being surrendered by their owners.

Very rarely we are able to take owner surrenders. We will always prioritize felines that are unsafe, unwell, or homeless over felines that are being rehomed. Our mission is to end the overpopulation of cats in the Knoxville area and surrounding counties through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), public education, and empowering the community to care fo outside cats. We do this a few different ways:

  • Providing TNR support where we have resources.
  • Mentoring in how to trap cat and loaning traps to residents wishing to neuter community cats.
  • Providing information on resources where community members can access no-cost or low-cost neuter solutions.
  • Promoting awareness of responsible care and treatment of animals.

Our mission is focused on community and feral cats - NOT owner surrenders. There are often other avenues local to residents like shelters or other rescue groups that are better equipped to assist when you have a personal cat to surrender, and we’ll provide you with the information for these groups! The short answer to the age-old question about owner surrenders is no; Feral Feline Friend’s mission does not including assisting with owner surrenders.
