Buddy lost his human companion and guardian in the fall, and he was completely confused and scared. His world was definitely rocked, and he wanted nothing to do with any humans that tried to interact with him. We originally thought he’d be happiest in our barn cat program where he could spend his days with other cats and away from humans, but we wanted to give Buddy a shot in foster care, but even then, he remained nervous and unsure. But after another two months of love and hard work, we are so happy to say that he has FLOURISHED! Buddy approaches his foster momma for pats now, cautiously forcing his head into her hands for ear scratches. He particularly loves it when she’s eating, and he’ll climb up next to her to supervise. Buddy loves other cats, and he has an adorable friendship with one of the resident dogs. We’re confident that Buddy will be able to bond with another human! He needs an experienced cat owner who will give him time to learn his new home is a safe space, and it must have other friendly cats. We think he’d do best in a home without small kids too. Buddy still runs when approached, but he’s getting better every day. We can’t wait for him to be adopted and meet his forever family!
