Rocky Lowes came to FFF from Newport after the flooding from Hurricane Helene. He was found in a local Lowe’s parking lot with a horrible skin infection. As expected, no one claimed him, and the people that worked there weren’t able to touch him. Luckily for Rocky, there was space available so they let him simmer and calm down. We were originally unable to pull him from animal control, fearing his skin condition was contagious and not having quarantine space available for a feral cat. Again, luck helped Rocky and he started to show signs of being tame and just scared. We came back to get him, and upon inspection of his wounds, we realized it was likely just a really bad flea allergy. Luck stepped in again, and Rocky’s skin cleared up with a simple flea treatment! Now that he’s feeling better, he can’t stop purring and making biscuits and rolling over for belly rubs. Rocky gets nervous at sudden movements and when the resident dogs start barking, but he quickly recovers and comes back to hang out with his humans. He definitely needs more groceries and his skin is still healing a bit, but he’s ready to find his forever home!
