I've found my furever family!

River

We're happy to tell you that River has a new furever home.

We know nothing of River's past before November 2024, at which time he was scooped up in a Young-Williams TNR group, mistaken for a feral, Community Cat, and returned to where he was found (around One Riverwalk/Blount Ave.). A feeder discovered him, and knew right away that he was not one for the outdoors. River was hesitant to put his trust in yet another human, but we finally got him into foster care in mid-May. Now he's trying to figure out life as a protected, indoor guy, and he couldn't be happier! It took him a week to start eating regular meals, as if that was not something he expected. Two things have remained consistent since being rescued: he loves to make biscuits and he "happy drools"....A LOT! He has moments where he is overzealous in his loving responses - his head boops to your face and hands are quite intense, and sometimes he slightly bites the hand that is petting him (a soft "No, no" stops him) - like he's not been able to share love for quite a long time. He's not been exposed to dogs in his foster home, and has had limited exposure to the cats that live there (any interactions have been positive). An ideal home for River, right now, is one that is calm and has a patient family that gives him the space to figure out that he no longer has to fend for himself. I think once that happens, along with the gentle "No,no"'s, the occasional bites will disappear. River has so much love to give… are you ready?
